Method

    Heat oven to 180°C. Brown mince without oil for 10 minutes; set aside. Cook onions in oil for 8–10 minutes.

    Mix lemon zest and juice with spices and grated ginger. Soak bread in milk. Fry garlic with onions for 2 minutes; add spice paste and drained bread, keeping milk.

    Mix in beef, seasoning, dried fruit, almonds and parsley; cook briefly. Press into a baking dish.

    Beat eggs with reserved milk and pour over meat. Bake for 40 minutes. Serve with optional prepared basmati rice.
