- Salt½ tspto season
- Black pepper¼ tspto season
- Plain flour¼ cupfor dusting chicken
- Butter50 golive oil may substitute
- Garlic cloves2minced
- Apple cider vinegar1½ tbspwhite or another clear vinegar may substitute
- Soy sauce1 tbsplight or all-purpose
- Honey¼ cupmaple syrup may substitute
Method
- 1
Slice each chicken breast horizontally to make four thinner steaks, then season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Place the flour in a shallow dish, coat each chicken piece lightly and shake off the excess.
- 3
Melt most of the butter in a large frying pan over high heat, reserving about 1 teaspoon. Add the chicken and cook for 2–3 minutes until golden.
3 min - 4
Turn the chicken and cook the second side for about 1 minute, then reduce the heat slightly to medium-high.
1 min - 5
Push the chicken aside slightly, add the minced garlic and reserved butter and stir briefly until fragrant.
- 6
Add the vinegar, soy sauce and honey. Stir or shake the pan to combine and simmer for about 1 minute until the sauce thickens slightly.
1 min - 7
Turn the chicken through the sauce to coat. If the sauce becomes too thick, loosen it with a splash of water, then remove from the heat and serve with the pan sauce spooned over.
