    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt1 tsp
  • Basil1 tsp
  • Dried Oregano1 tsp
  • Black Pepper½ tsp
  • Crushed Red Pepper Flakes½ tsp
  • Ketchup½ cup
  • Brown sugar2 tbsp

Method

  1. 1

Set the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. 2

In a roomy mixing bowl, mix together 2 pounds ground beef, 1/2 cup diced white onion, 1 cup plain bread crumbs, 1/2 cup milk, 1 large egg, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper,; then 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes. Knead the mixture with clean hands until well combined. Do not overmix.

  3. 3

Shape the meat mixture into a loaf approximately 8 inches long, 4 inches wide,; then 2 inches high, and place it centered in the prepared baking dish.

  4. 4

    Bake for about 45 minutes.

  5. 5

While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons brown sugar,; then 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce until smooth.

  6. 6

At this stage, remove meatloaf from oven and carefully brush the glaze over the top.

  7. 7

Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (205°C); then return the meatloaf to the oven. Bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) as measured with a food thermometer.

  8. 8

At this stage, let the meatloaf rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
